Once-Fired

The making, glazing and firing of ware in one operation.

Opacifier

An additive to a glaze that increases the reflection of light to the observer, commonly tin oxide or zircon.

Optical Pyrometer

This is a form of pyrometer in which the temperature of an article or furnace is estimated by comparing the colour and intensity of its luminous surface with that of a calibrated filament.
