The machines were created during the 1950s. Used to coat the mastic gum dragées. Each of the old machines has a capacity of 40 to 60 kilograms and rotation at about 24 times per minute. The gum dragées were placed in the cauldron while the responsible employee was adding syrup. During the rotation of the cauldron, the dragées were getting coated with the help of a gas flame that heated the cauldron. Fresh air was also channelled through a nozzle in order to control the moisture during crystallization of the syrup on the dragées. This process lasted around 24 hours, depending on humidity in the environment.
